Pollution Prevention and Control
The Pollution Prevention and Control (Industrial Emissions) Regulations (NI) 2013 require certain businesses to control and monitor air pollution. These rules place responsibilities on operators whose activities may release pollutants into the air.
Which Businesses Need a Permit?
Any business in the Newry, Mourne and Down area that could release pollutants into the atmosphere must apply for a permit.

What Happens When I Apply?
The Council has six months to decide on your application.
You should keep in regular contact with the Environmental Health team. If you have not received confirmation after six months, contact them on 0330 137 4024.
Charges and Fees
The PPC Charging Scheme lists all fees, including application fees, annual charges, and transfer fees. Contact Environmental Health to discuss fees and what applies to your business.

Public Register
The Public Register contains information on all LAPPC installations and mobile plant regulated by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
It also includes details for all Part A and B installations regulated by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).
The register is available for inspection Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (except public holidays) and is free to access.
