COVID-19 Recovery Shop Frontage Revitalisation Scheme Request for Expressions of Interest

Do you need assistance to enhance your premises and make it COVID-19 safe? Could your premises do with a facelift to stimulate business?

The COVID-19 Recovery Revitalisation Scheme, funded by the Department for the Communities and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, may be able to help you with small 100% grants to improve shop frontages and interior facilities. The maximum level of grant aid will be determined upon receipt of the completed expressions of interest.

Eligible improvements may include works such as:

  • shop front repairs / enhancements
  • provision of awnings, wind breakers, gazebos
  • signage
  • sanitizer stations
  • permanent/mobile screens
  • painting
  • Pop-up shops
  • PA system
  • contactless payments
  • self-service facilities.

NB: The above list is indicative only and other items will be considered. All applications will be assessed on merit.

Please note that if you have received a Shop Front Improvement Scheme grant from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council within the last three years, approval will not be given to items that have previously been funded. All funding must be for new initiatives taken as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID Response and Recovery Fund

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, with support from the Department for Communities, The Executive Office (TEO) and Newry, Mourne & Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (via the Department of Justice and the Northern Ireland Policing Board), has introduced a COVID Response and Recovery fund to support local communities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Funding is also available from TEO to support good relations projects across the Council district.

There are four grant themes currently open, these are:

  • COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery
  • PCSP Community Safety and Support
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Good Relations.

Application forms must be completed through an online system which can be accessed via the following link https://newrymournedown.eformz.info/

The fund will operate on a rolling basis from 12 June 2020 until whichever of the following is the earliest - at which point applications will close:

  • the budget has been fully allocated
  • the local response to the emergency is declared no longer needed by the Council
  • or by 30 September 2020.
