Update: Drumkeeragh Forest
Works are nearing completion on the construction of new and improved recreation facilities at Drumkeeragh Forest. This includes works on new community trails and the upgrading of car parking facilities.
The development is as a result of partnership working between DAERA (Forest Service and Rural Affairs Division) and Newry Mourne and Down District Council. Costs of the project amounts to approximately £500,000 with DAERA providing funding of £300,000.
The project is being managed by Council and we can confirm that works are now nearly complete. One of the final stages of construction requires speed ramps and signage to be installed in a newly built car park. This necessitates temporary closure of the car park to ensure works can be carried out safely. We anticipate that works should be completed before Christmas 2020 when the car park will be re-opened.
Thank you for your patience in this matter.
