Data Protection

From time to time, you may be asked to give personal information to access or use services on our website. When you give personal information to The Council, we have a legal duty to handle and process your data appropriately and lawfully. This is in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA).

Under the DPA, you have the right to access the information we hold about you. These requests are known as Subject Access Requests (SARs).

You can make a SAR either in writing or verbally by contacting the Council.

If you wish to send your request in writing, you can download and fill in our Subject Access Request Form. Use of this form is not mandatory, but it helps us process your request more efficiently.

Proof of Identity

To make sure we keep your information secure, we will ask you to give proof of identity.

Please give:

  • A copy of your passport, driving licence, or another official document showing your name and signature.
  • A recent bill (for example, a utility bill) showing your name and address.
  • If you are making a request on behalf of someone else, you must also provide evidence of your authority to act on their behalf.

Response Time

We aim to respond to all Subject Access Requests within one calendar month.
