Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy 2022-2027

Newry, Mourne and Down is home to a rich and diverse arts, culture and heritage sector that plays a vital role in shaping our communities, celebrating our identity and enhancing quality of life. From Slieve Gullion and Newry to the Mournes, Slieve Croob, Rowallane and Downpatrick, local artists, organisations, volunteers and communities help preserve our heritage while inspiring creativity for future generations.

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy 2022–2027 sets out the Council's vision and priorities for supporting and developing the sector over five years. It provides a framework for investment, partnership working and the delivery of initiatives that celebrate our unique cultural assets and encourage participation in arts, culture and heritage across the district.

By working with communities and partners, the Strategy aims to strengthen the district's cultural offer, support economic growth through the creative industries and cultural tourism, and improve the health and wellbeing of residents through greater access to arts, culture and heritage opportunities.
