Draft Plan Strategy Counter Representations

Publication of Site-Specific Policy Representations (Counter Representations).

In accordance with Regulation 19 of the Planning (Local Development Plan) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015, notice is hereby given that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is publishing the site-specific policy representations (counter representations) received during the statutory public consultation period for its Local Development Plan 2035 – Draft Plan Strategy.

The consultation period for any counter representations to be made commenced on Friday 30 January 2026 and ended at 5pm on Monday 20 April 2026. Please note the period for submission of counter representations was extended following a correction to the LDP webpage address.

Please note the consultation period has now ended and there is no opportunity to make any further representations at this time. 

Availability of Counter Representations

The counter representations are available to inspect on the Council’s website below and in hard copy during office hours, 9am to 5pm, at the following Council offices:

Warrenpoint Town Hall,

Church St, Warrenpoint,

Newry, BT34 3HN

and

Downpatrick Planning Office,

Downshire Civic Centre,

Downshire Estate, Ardglass Road,

Downpatrick, BT30 6GQ

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, we have a duty to protect any information we hold on you. The personal information you provide will only be used for the purpose of Plan Preparation and will not be shared with any third party unless law or regulation compels such a disclosure.

Please note that in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Planning (Local Development Plan) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015, the names and addresses on counter-representations have been published on our website and made available for public inspection. Personal data such as signatures, telephone numbers and personal email addresses have been redacted.

We are also required to submit the counter representations to the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) as they will be considered as part of the Independent Examination process.
