Community Support Programme

The Council runs the Community Support Programme through the Community Engagement Team in the Active and Healthy Communities Department.

The programme helps local people and groups make their communities better places to live. It supports projects that bring people together and create positive change.

To deliver this work, the Council’s Engagement Team partners with local community, voluntary, and statutory organisations. We also work with other sectors across the district.

What the Programme Supports

The Community Support Programme provides financial help and advice for:

  • The Council’s Financial Assistance Scheme
  • Council-run Community Centres
  • Community Advice Newry, Mourne and Down (formerly Citizens Advice)
  • Other Council-led community activities

Staff Can Also Help With:

  • Advice and guidance on community development
  • Support for local groups through training and capacity-building programmes
