Welcome to Newry, Mourne, and Down District Council’s Leisure and Sports Services, where we are committed to supporting health, fitness, and community well-being. Across our district we have six indoor centres and complexes offering an array of amenities, including swimming pools, fully equipped gyms, health suites and a variety of fitness classes to suit all levels.

We have a range of memberships so you can be active, your way, every day! Our flexible payment options allow members to avail of daily rates, Pay As You Go, as well as monthly direct debit packages and three, six or twelve month pay up front options. 

We also offer Corporate Memberships to businesses, clubs and organisations elevating wellness and enhancing performance.

We proudly provide a range of inclusive health programmes, extensive outdoor leisure facilities, children’s seasonal sports camps and tailored disability sports initiatives, ensuring everyone can stay active and engaged.

Our sports development programmes and financial assistance schemes further empower local clubs, fostering investment and improvements in their facilities.

Nominations Now Open for Council’s NMD Be Active Sports Awards

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, in partnership with the Sports Association Newry, Down and South Armagh (SANDSA), is excited to announce the opening of nominations for this year’s NMD Be Active Sports Awards.

These prestigious awards will once again acknowledge the remarkable sporting accomplishments of athletes and clubs whilst collectively recognising the tremendous contributions of mentors and volunteers during the calendar year January to December 2024.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry.

Nominations are open to all athletes, sports clubs, schools, local organisations, and sports enthusiasts within the district.

The deadline for nominations is Monday 10 February 2025 at 4pm. Nominations can be submitted via email to leisureandsport@nmandd.org or dropped off at reception at Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick, or Newry Leisure Centre.


Newry Pool Update

Newry Leisure Centre Pool and Health Suite: Works Underway

Information relating to Newry Leisure Centre Memberships:

For members of Newry Leisure Centre who have pool and health suite usage included in their membership and who pay monthly by Direct Debit, financial adjustments will be made to their direct debit to reflect closures and customers will not be required to take any further action in relation to their membership payments.

For members who have paid in full in advance or would like to cancel their direct debit membership please contact: bookings.nlc@nmandd.org to discuss your credit/refund/cancellation options.

We would like to remind our members who have multi-site use as part of their membership package that they can avail of pool facilities within Kilkeel Leisure Centre and Down Leisure Centre. To avoid disappointment on arrival, it is strongly advised to pre-book Kilkeel Leisure Centre swim sessions via the NMD Be Active App.
