Newry, Mourne and Down District Council offers a variety of scenic walking trails set against some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful woodland walk, an invigorating hill trek, or a family-friendly outdoor adventure, our trails provide the perfect setting to reconnect with nature whilst being active.
Each trail has something different to offer, from the wooded hills of Drumkeeragh Forest to the peaceful waterside paths at Windmill Hill / Lough Park near Ballynahinch. Take in countryside views from Aughrim Hill Trail near Kilkeel, explore the wildlife at Daisy Hill Wood in Newry, or enjoy a family-friendly walk at Seaforde Plantation Wood.
For convenience, onsite parking is available at most locations, making access easy for visitors. Several trails also offer designated picnic areas, so you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and make a day of it with family and friends.
