Important Information

Some important information to be aware of before attending our Leisure Centres

Admission Policy for our swimming pools:

Newry, Mourne and Down Leisure Centres currently operate the following admission policy for users of our swimming pools.

  • All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (at least 16 years old) at all times.
  • An adult (aged 16 or over) may accompany:-

        - 1 child under the age of 4.
        - 2 children where at least one of the children is aged over 4 years.

  • In addition to the above, non-swimmers (children) must wear a secure flotation device such as fitted armbands or a buoyancy aid.
  • Those under 16 years may not use the Health Suite.
  • Any person under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be refused admission.

Important COVID-19 Guidance:

We encourage our customers to wear face masks in communal areas, make full use of hand sanitiser stations throughout our buildings and social distance in busy areas where possible.  Do not attend our leisure centres if you feel unwell or are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms. Please note, that if we experience significant demand for our services and we need to ensure the safety of our customers, we may in some cases have to reintroduce session booking.

Guidance for Swimming Pools:

  • Swimmers will be admitted in a regulated order based on session start times. Swim sessions will be strictly 60 mins.
  • We ask that all customers arrive beach ready with your swimming costume already on underneath your clothes if possible.
  • Changing cubicles and lockers will be available in our swimming and gym areas. Showers and hair dryers will also be available.  We would actively encourage our customers to come ready to train/ swim and shower at home where possible.
  • You’ll need to bring your own equipment, like googles and floats, if you have them and please make sure they are clean and identifiable as yours before you arrive.
  • When you are in the pool remember to leave a gap between you and other swimmers, and keep to your allocated lane. Follow the same direction of travel when lane swimming so as to avoid side by side lane swimming with the swimmers beside you.  Please do not overtake whilst swimming. Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching.
  • Pool pods and hoists will be available for customers who require them.
