Arts, Culture and Heritage

Our district has a rich mix of arts, culture and heritage that is an important part of life for local people. Across Slieve Gullion, Newry, Crotlieve, the Mournes, Slieve Croob, Rowallane and Downpatrick, you can find many groups and individuals who celebrate and protect our shared traditions. Their work helps keep our communities vibrant and connected.

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy gives a plan for how the Council will support and invest in local projects and events. This support is especially important as the arts, culture and heritage sectors continue to recover from the impact of Covid- 19.

The strategy outlines the Council’s vision for the next five years. It explains how we will work with local partners to strengthen these sectors, boost our economy and improve community wellbeing.
