Bulky Waste Collection Service

Our Bulky Waste Collection Service helps residents dispose of large household items that cannot be placed in a standard household bin.

This service is available to householders only and must be booked in advance.

Items We Can Collect

We can collect up to five bulky household items per booking, including:

  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Beds and mattresses
  • Tables, chairs and wooden furniture
  • Wardrobes and drawers
  • Standard domestic white goods, including washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers
  • Standard domestic fridges and freezers
  • Bicycles
  • Carpets and soft furnishings

Items We Cannot Collect

The following items are not accepted as part of the Bulky Waste Collection Service:

Large or Specialist Appliances

  • American-style fridge freezers
  • Range cookers
  • Commercial appliances
  • Petrol lawnmowers or petrol-powered equipment

Construction and Demolition Materials

  • Rubble
  • Bricks
  • Concrete
  • Hardcore
  • Soil
  • Sand or gravel
  • Plasterboard
  • Building materials of any kind
  • Roofing materials
  • Wall tiles
  • Floor tiles
  • Wooden flooring
  • Laminate flooring

Household Improvement Items

  • Kitchen units and worktops
  • Bathroom suites, including baths, toilets and sinks
  • Internal or external doors
  • Windows and window frames
  • Fencing panels

Other Non-Accepted Items

  • Furniture containing glass or mirrors
  • Garden sheds
  • Trees, branches or garden waste
  • Paint, oils or chemicals
  • Oil tanks
  • Car batteries
  • Asbestos
  • Dead animals
  • Pianos
  • Bagged household waste
  • Commercial or business waste

Many of these items can be taken to your local Household Recycling Centre. Please check with the site before travelling if you are unsure whether an item is accepted.

Charges

The charge for a bulky waste collection is £12.75 per collection.

  • Up to five items can be included per booking.
  • Payment must be made at the time of booking.

Payment can be made by debit or credit card over the phone. A collection date will be provided when your booking is confirmed.

Collections take place between 8.00am and 5.00pm on the scheduled day.

Cancellations and Refunds

To receive a refund, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled collection date.

Refunds cannot be issued for cancellations made less than 48 hours before collection.
