Litterpick Support Requests

We can loan out one litter pack per group. Each pack includes up to six litter pickers, bags, and gloves. Please note that we cannot loan out single litter pickers.

To book a pack email: besustainable@nmandd.org.

Inlcude:

  • The date and location of your clean-up
  • A daytime contact number

Please give at least one week’s notice.

We’ll contact you to arrange collection of your pack. All borrowed litter pickers must be returned to the Council after use.

If you’d like to keep your own litter pickers, you can take part in Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’s Adopt a Spot Scheme (see below).

Important information

Volunteers are not insured by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. You take part in litter picks at your own risk, so please make sure:

  • A risk assessment is carried out
  • You have Public Liability Insurance in place before starting
  • Be extra careful when picking litter near roads or water. Do not touch dangerous items such as syringes, chemical canisters, or anything sharp — instead, report them to the Council.

For more advice, check Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’s “Hints and Tips Guide: Organising a Clean-Up” by by clicking here.

Try to separate recyclable waste where possible. For example, bag cans, plastic bottles, glass, and wood separately, so they can be recycled.

Adopt a Spot

If you’d like your own litter pack, sign up for the Adopt a Spot Scheme by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

This scheme lets volunteers adopt an area in their community and look after it. When you join, you’ll receive a free litter pack.
