Rural Business Development Grant Scheme 2026/27 Now Open for Applications
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Rural Business Development Grant Scheme (RBDGS) 2026/27.
Funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and administered by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council on the Department's behalf, the scheme aims to strengthen the rural economy by providing capital investment support to eligible small businesses.
Grants of up to £7,500 are available to eligible rural businesses across the Newry, Mourne and Down district. Successful applicants will be required to provide a minimum of 50% match funding towards the total cost of their project.
The scheme is designed to help rural businesses invest in equipment and infrastructure that will improve productivity, enhance competitiveness and support long-term business sustainability.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Glyn Hanna, said, "Rural businesses are at the heart of our local economy, creating jobs, supporting communities and driving economic growth. This grant scheme offers a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs and micro-businesses to invest in their future, improve their operations and strengthen their resilience in an increasingly competitive marketplace. I encourage all eligible businesses to attend a Pre-Funding Workshop and submit an application."
Anyone wishing to apply must attend one of the compulsory Pre-Funding Workshops, which will be delivered both online and in person. Attendance is a mandatory requirement, and applications from individuals who have not attended a workshop will not be considered.
