Tech for the Future Event
Newry, Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership are excited to host “Tech for the Future” on Friday 17 November as part of Enterprise Week 2023, in partnership with Bring I.T On to promote the various pathways to start a career in Technology.
With an opportunity to hear from a high calibre line up of professionals providing you with an understanding of the various pathways and careers, you will also discover the fastest growing Information Technology jobs and the most sought after skills employers need.
Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Featuring a local Higher-Level Apprentice who followed an alternative pathway to employment with First Derivatives, other local employers will also be in attendance including Norbrook, Kyber Digital, MJM Marine, All State and PWC, plus many more. Employers will be available to engage with participants regarding current and future opportunities.
Launching the event, Councillor Valerie Harte, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson said, “Technology is the future and anyone interested in starting or developing a career in technology should get themselves along for the chance to begin a fulfilling career in I.T, even if you have no prior experience or qualifications in the field. Newry, Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership are providing you with a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the endless possibilities in Technology and how you can be part of it”.
Information Technology is growing exponentially in Northern Ireland and beyond, offering opportunities in every sector, multiple career paths, high salaries, along with rewarding and satisfying work. Almost every industry needs some form of technology to operate and therefore such jobs are not just restricted to I.T specific businesses, there are varying job roles to suit various skillsets and interests.
The Bring IT On programme seeks to address the skills shortage and employability issues within the I.T sector in Northern Ireland. Bring IT On representative Lisa McCaul confirmed “Bring It On are delighted to partner with Newry Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership to bring this event to the area for the second time. Our mission is to ensure that Irish IT businesses have an ongoing pipeline of skilled talent fit for industry needs. Events like this one is a great way to harness that talent by giving them an opportunity to experience the sector”.
