Newry Arts Festival 2026 Celebrates Creativity Across the City
Newry came alive this March as the Newry Arts Festival 2026 delivered ten days of vibrant arts, culture and creativity from 19 to 29 March.
The festival continues to grow in popularity, attracting audiences from across the district and beyond. This year’s programme offered something for everyone, from live music and theatre to comedy, film and visual art, showcasing an exciting mix of local and visiting talent.
Events took place across a range of venues, transforming spaces throughout the city into hubs of creativity and performance. Audiences enjoyed everything from intimate gigs and powerful drama to engaging exhibitions and lively comedy shows.
A strong programme of workshops and masterclasses also gave people the chance to get involved, learn new skills and explore their creativity. From dance and poetry to film-making and animation, participants of all ages embraced the opportunity to try something new.
Film screenings added another dimension to the festival, bringing audiences together to experience stories from both local and international filmmakers.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell said, “I was delighted to see Newry Arts Festival go from strength to strength. Once again, it has attracted growing numbers and showcased a vibrant mix of local and national talent across a range of intimate locations, quirky spaces and and well-known venues. Newry has a long and proud history of arts and culture and festivals like this are vital in continuing that legacy while fostering new talent and engaging new audiences.”
Following another successful year, planning is already underway for 2027, with organisers keen to build on this year’s momentum and continue delivering a high-quality, inclusive arts programme for all.
