Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick has officially launched this year’s Newcastle Summer Season which will include a packed programme of live performances, children’s shows and live music throughout July and August.
Councillor Fitzpatrick was joined at the launch by some of the acts that will be performing in the Newcastle Community Cinema this summer, including Stiltwalker Babcock and Caroline Curran aka Maggie Muff, who stars in ‘Maggie’s Feg Run’ on the 24 and 25 August.
Music Highlights of this year’s festival include Elvis Spectacular, The Illegals with Niamh Kavanagh, the fabulous James Huish and his band, Garth Brooks Tribute, Bjorn Identity (Abba Tribute), Motown singers The Iconettes and Blues Guitarist Ronnie Greer.
The summer season will also see theatre performances by Belvoir Players (Separate Beds), The Bart Players (Running Riot), Southbank Playhouse (Relative Values), Theatre 3 Newtownabbey (See How They Run) and also the final instalment in the Maggie trilogy, Maggies Feg Run.
Children will be entertained each Saturday afternoon by exciting circus performers and each Sunday afternoon live bands will take to the stage outside of the Newcastle centre for visitors to enjoy as they stroll along the promenade.
Evening performances begin at 8pm in the Newcastle Community Cinema with bar facilities available from 7pm.
