Signing of Sister Cities Agreement By Chairperson Councillor Naomi Bailie between Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Southern Pines, Pinehurst and Aberdeen
On Monday 2 November, the Mayors of Southern Pines David McNeill, Pinehurst Nancy Fiorillo and Aberdeen Robert Farrell sign an extended Sister Cities agreement with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council at Campbell House, Southern Pines North Carolina.
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Councillor Naomi Bailie signed the Agreement on Thursday 12 November and commented, “I am delighted to be signing this agreement which signifies continued welcome relationships that can be further developed for the benefit of all associated communities”.
She continued, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are delighted to use the opportunity with the reform of local government to reaffirm the Sister City relationship arrangements with Southern Pines and to extend the partnership with, Pinehurst and Aberdeen, North Carolina, USA for a variety of reasons. Many of the shared experiences and development opportunities focus on establishing stronger business connections, growing and developing our local economies, and a deep appreciation for the arts, sports and environment.”
