Newcastle to Host Spectacular Hallowtides Event
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has announced its spooky and spectacular Hallowtides event which will take place on Wednesday, 31 October in Newcastle.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “Hallowtides is a fantastic family fun event. We encourage everyone to embrace the halloween spirit and participate in what the day has to offer, including all parents and children dressing up for our annual fancy dress competition.
“The pinnacle of the event is no doubt the show stopping fireworks display which makes the skies come alive; these will be launched from the beach on South Promenade.
“Events play an important role within the Council’s tourism strategy and the numbers we see flocking to Newcastle is a testament to the local community and Council working together to ensure their success and bring economic benefits to the area. I commend the local businesses for their hard work in ensuring the commercial and community success of Hallowtides and particular want to mention the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce which has taken the lead organising this impressive event.”
Everyone attending the event will be able to take part in the fancy dress competition, listen to Q Breakfast’s Stephen and Cate who will be entertaining the crowds with great music and give-aways from the festival stage.
The float parade will depart from the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa Hotel at 7pm and the event will finish with a spectacular fireworks display on the beach at 7.45pm. This year’s floats feature a range of participants from the local area, including schools, pipe bands, community groups and clubs, all eager to win the great prizes on offer.
Come and enjoy the day, and ensure you don’t miss the fireworks at the Promenade.
