Annual Famine Commemoration Updates
The 2015 Annual Famine Commemoration will take place on Saturday 26 September in Newry. This is the eighth year in which the Great Famine has been marked with a formal Commemoration and the first time that it will take place in Northern Ireland.

The Council is also pleased to support the International Famine Conference; John Mitchel:The Legacy of the Great Famine which will take place at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September. Featuring over twenty of the world's leading academics and writers the conference will consider the causes, impact and legacy of the Great Famine. The International Famine Conference is one of a series of events leading up to the Annual Famine Commemoration which takes place at Albert Basin Newry on Saturday 26 September 2015, starting from 1pm.
