Action Cancer Bus Health Checks In Castlewellan Area
Slieve Croob District Electoral Area (DEA) Forum, in partnership with County Down Rural Community Network, has organised for the Action Cancer Bus to come and provide health checks in the Castlewellan area on Saturday 13 October 2018 from 10.00am to 3.30pm. The Action Cancer Bus will be open to everyone and will be located at The Lodge, 1 Dublin Road, Castlewellan.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman Councillor Mark Murnin said, “In rural areas, it can be difficult for the public to access services that can saves lives and it is important that we bring these services to the heart of the community so everyone can avail of them. The Action Cancer Bus provides digital breast screening for woman aged 40-49 and 70+ and MOT health checks for men and women aged 16 and over. Every year, the Big Bus provides approximately 5,000 breast screenings and 4,000 MOT health checks within local communities.
Cllr Murnin continued, “Early detection is vital to responding effectively to many health issues and the visit of the Big Bus is a real opportunity for residents to get an MOT check and make a healthy lifestyle change”.
