Winners Announced for the ‘The Four Seasons in the Ring of Gullion’ Photography Exhibition
The winners of the Ring of Gullion Photography Competition have been decided after a lot of deliberation by the judges.
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “It was a pleasure that I joined Enda Flynn of Cooley Wildlife Photography and Brendan McSherry to be part of the judging panel. The Ring of Gullion Photography Competition is in it’s seventh year and this year’s theme was ‘The Four Seasons in the Ring of Gullion’. The entries included photographs of great buildings, historical sites, activities and the outstanding landscape in the area.”
Cllr Mulgrew continued, “Well done to the overall winner Alan Hopps and the under 14 winner Art Palmer. I would also like to congratulate Jonny Savage and Marie McCartan who came second and third respectively in the competition. All the photographs were excellent especially the under 14 entrees. I would also like to give a special mention and recognition to to Cathal McDonnell, Arlene Crummy, Patrick McCartan, Elaine McCann, Gerry McGovern, Laurentia McVerry, Brian Tomany, Seán Mac Diarmada, and Rosemary Mulholland as their photos will feature in the Ring of Gullion Calendar for 2018.”
Newry Mourne and Down District Council and the Ring of Gullion AONB project are showcasing the excellent entrees in the annual Photography Competition in Ti Chulainn Centre in Mullaghbane until the end of January. Copies of the calendar are available at the Ring of Gullion Office in Crossmaglen and also the Visitor Information Point in Slieve Gullion Forest Park. The photography competition will be taking a break for 2018 with plans to re-launch a new competition in 2019.
