FANGTASTIC FLOATS AND THRILLING FIREWORKS FOR NEWCASTLE
The countdown to Halloween is well underway and Newcastle Chamber is busy preparing of one of the most anticipated nights of the year. The Chamber have been working closely with local schools, sports and community groups and businesses to ensure everyone pulls out all the stops to create the most thrilling cavalcade of floats and entertainers. The spectacle of floats and entertainers will depart from Slieve Donard Resort and Spa on Saturday 31 October at 6.30pm and meander through the eerie streets of Newcastle; cheered on by the huge crowds who turn out every year to watch the enchanting display.
Gareth Stewart from Cool FM will scream out the count down to the fireworks display at 7.45pm from the beach at South Promenade and then the skies in Newcastle will come alight with all the colours of the rainbow. The local businesses will cast a spell on the grown-ups and ensure they will not want to party anywhere else as they are so busy getting ready for the majestic and vibrant night trade.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Naomi Bailie commented, “Newcastle Chamber fully embrace the spirit of Halloween and the numbers attending the event increase year on year. The traders are very creative and are hosting a number of events throughout the town from Monday 26 October to ensure that visitors have the most gruesome experience. Little ones will be entertained early in the week with pumpkin carving, a treasure hunt, willow lantern workshops, fancy dress parties and much more.
This year the Council is delighted to be working with W5 to put on a magnificent recycling show for children age 7+ in The Newcastle Centre on Tuesday 27 October at 2.30pm and 4pm. Numbers are limited so be sure not to miss this wonderful show and book your seat early.
Furthermore, the Council is delighted that the fabulous fireworks display has become so well renowned throughout the North of Ireland and I would encourage anyone who hasn’t been to the event to come along on Saturday 31 October to see the fireworks scream, dazzle, and whizz around the beautiful backdrop of the Mournes on Dundrum Bay.”
