Community Centres Get into the Holiday Spirit

Christmas is coming to community centres in the Newry, Mourne and Down area.

Cloughreagh and Bessbrook Community Centres are getting into the holiday spirit with demonstrations in flower arranging geared to the Christmas season. The sessions, which have been organised by the Council’s Active and Healthy Communities Department, will take place on Thursday 5 December in Cloughreagh Community Centre at 10.30am to 12.30am and on Wednesday 11 December in Bessbrook Community Centre at 7pm to 9pm.

On hand at the community centres will be floral tutor, Kay Casey who will demonstrate eight different Christmas arrangement.  Refreshments will be provided and these arrangements will be awarded as prizes at the end of the day.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey said, “Our community centres provide a wide range of activities, including classes, sporting and other activities, and I would encourage our citizens to make use of these excellent facilities.

“The Christmas flower arranging demonstrations in Cloughreagh and Bessbrook are an excellent way to get into the holiday spirit and go home with a decoration that can take pride of place throughout the festive season.”
