Bulky Collection Service
The Council's Waste Department provides a bulky waste collection service to assist local householders with the removal of bulky waste items that cannot be deposited in their standard black bin. This service must be booked in advance through direct contact with the Council.
Examples of Bulky Waste Materials includes:
- Beds and mattresses
- Dining tables
- Large electrical appliances (white goods)
- Sofas and armchairs
- Wardrobes and chests of drawers
Note – size and weight restrictions will apply. If an item cannot safely be transported by two personnel, it will not be collected. As a general rule of thumb we will collect items that you would take with you when you move house. For example, we cannot collect the kitchen cabinets, doors, bathroom suites.
Items that will not be collected by the Bulky Waste Service include:
- Fixtures and fittings (kitchen and bathroom)
- Building materials and plaster board
- Car batteries
- Dead animals
- Garden sheds
- Garden waste and trees
- Hard core
- Oil and grease
- Oil tanks
- Paint tins
- Small electrical appliances (kettles, toasters, etc)
Note: Small electrical items should be brought to your local Household Recycling Centre for proper disposal under the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment Directive.
This service is for domestic waste only and we are unable to take away any trade or commercial waste.
A charge of £10 will be payable, in advance, per bulky waste collection.
A maximum of five items will be allowed per collection.

While it will not be possible to specify the exact time of collection, all items will be collected between 8am and 5pm on the agreed date.
Bulky waste items must be ready for collection on the pavement at the front of your house, by 7.30am on the day of collection. Items will not be collected from back gardens or from inside your property.
Please note: this service must be paid for in advance at the time of booking.
Several payment options are open to you and include payment in cash, by cheque, or debit/credit card.
If for some reason your circumstances change and you no longer require to avail of this service, a refund will be given, provided the request for service cancellation is received at least 48 hours before the planned collection date, otherwise the payment is non-refundable.
