Local Irish Language Group ‘Fóram an Dúin agus Oirialla’ bilingual Christmas Market event

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Róisín Mulgrew, joined the children and families in welcoming Daidí na Nollag to Bunscoil an Iúir for Aonach na Nollag ar an Iúr, on Saturday 1 December 2017. The event was a multi-lingual, multi-cultural fun day organised by Fóram an Dúin agus Oirialla and highlighted the Council’s commitment to promoting and protecting the Irish language, which it does through its Irish Language Strategy 2017-19. The event funded through the Council’s Good Relations Financial Assistance call. 

Families enjoyed a range of activities including the Armagh Rhymers and local musicians, crafts and face painting. The day was about celebrating the Irish language in a social setting with fun and craic for all.
