Ring of Gullion AONB and Geopark Team to Host Community Drop-In Sessions

Residents, community groups, businesses and visitors are invited to meet the Ring of Gullion AONB and Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark Team at a series of informal drop-in sessions across South Armagh this August and September.

Hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s AONB and Geopark Team, the sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark, including current projects and activities. Visitors can also share their local knowledge and favourite places and pick up maps and information about the area.
The drop-in sessions will take place from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Bessbrook Library on Friday 21 August, from Crossmaglen Community Centre on Friday 4 September and the WWII Hut, Meigh, on Saturday 12 September.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Glyn Hanna, said: “The Ring of Gullion is full of special places, stories and landscapes that mean a great deal to local people and visitors alike. These informal sessions are a great opportunity to meet the team, learn more about the work taking place across the AONB and Geopark and share your own knowledge of the area.

“Whether you are interested in local heritage, nature, walking or community activities, or simply want to find out more about the Geopark, I encourage you to call in and have a chat.”

No booking is required and everyone is welcome.
