A group of leading European golf tour operators has enjoyed a first-hand experience of Northern Ireland’s world-class golf and breathtaking landscapes during a Tourism Northern Ireland (TNI) golf familiarisation visit to the Mourne, Gullion and Strangford region.
The itinerary highlighted the area’s outstanding golf and hospitality offering, with the centrepiece being a round of golf at the internationally renowned Royal County Down Golf Club, consistently ranked among the finest courses in the world.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell, welcomed the visit, saying, "We are delighted to host this important group of European golf buyers and showcase everything that makes Mourne, Gullion and Strangford so special. With Royal County Down at the heart of our offering, alongside our outstanding scenery, heritage and hospitality, this region has everything to compete on the global stage. The visit formed part of TNI’s wider strategy to drive growth in golf tourism across Northern Ireland, building on the global profile generated by The Open at Royal Portrush and the international acclaim achieved by Royal County Down and Royal Portrush.
The participating European buyers will now return home with enhanced knowledge and personal experiences that will enable them to develop new itineraries and packages, positioning Northern Ireland as a must-visit destination for golf travellers worldwide.
