Newry Mourne and Down District Council has a responsibility to protect members of the public from dangers presented by dangerous buildings, walls and other structures which are beside any street, public footpath or other public place.
The surveyors in the Building Control department will carry out inspections and report on necessary action to remove the danger. If you wish to report a building or structure that poses a potential danger contact:

There are various powers to act on the owner or occupier in relation to buildings and structures in order to remove this danger under the following legislation:
Section 75 of the Town Improvement Clauses Act 1847
Section 30 of the Public Health Amendment Act 1907
